Thursday, May 13th will be a night that goes down in the folklore of New York City nightlife. To celebrate the birthday of Libation’s internationally acclaimed IAN FRIDAY, the party that Time Out New York calls a “full-on throwdown” has invited Grammy Award Winner LOUIE VEGA (Vega Records) as its special guest.
Louie Vega, a dance music icon, is one half of the legendary production duo Masters at Work. Along with partner Kenny “Dope” Gonzales, he is responsible for the classic NUYORICAN SOUL album which spawned hits by La India, Tito Puente, Roy Ayers and the great George Benson. As a DJ, Louie has toured all over the planet and currently holds down a residency, alongside Kevin Hedge, at the popular NYC party Roots. Louie’s label, Vega Records, continues to be a constant source of dance floor fillers by the likes of Elements of Life, Anane, Mr. V, Sara Devine and more.
If that weren’t enough, Brooklyn collective AFRO MOSAIC SOUL will be on hand to host the nights festivities. Also, Libation will welcome visual artist FERNANDOMORA to capture the essence of the celebration live on canvass.
